Busy, Busy.

We had our Meet the teacher night two days and and I have been nonstop working since I last made a post. My room isn't finished to my standards but it will do for now since school starts Monday. I'll have 17 3rd grade friends joining my room.

Pictures to come soon!

Busy, Busy, Busy (room photos)

I've been swamped with professional development and working in my room the past week. I'll be back in my room tomorrow. I wanted to drop in and show you a few photos of my room so far.
This little Monster Sign is above the door inside my classroom. I found the cute sticker and slapped it on the monster sign.

This is the outside of our classroom door.

Birthdays. I squeezed this in the one small empty wall space I have just as you walk into the classroom.

Classroom Update

The classroom is coming along. I've been putting up bulletin boards, moving furniture, sewing, sketching/cutting/coloring bulletin board characters and starting to prep first week of school stuff. I have also spent some time leveling all of my classroom library books with the DRA reading levels. It took me about a half of a day to do all of the books I had at school, round two and three will come when we get more out of storage!
 Books, books book.

Cutting out something I sketched. Any guesses as who/what I sketched?

WALMART SPIRAL NOTEBOOKS

Walmart has their 17 cent spiral bound notebooks out now. I went today and stocked up. I bought 26 each in 4 different colors. I am thinking. Reading, Writing, Math and Science.

They also had black and purple.

Back to organizing and searching through boxes and boxes of school stuff in my garage.

Room Update

I have spent a total of 4 days from about 9-5 (what a way to make a livin.... HA couldn't resist) working in my room and I wish I had more to show for it.

What have I done?

*Put up double boarder for all of my bulletin boards that I planned out.
*Moved furniture around to where I'd like it to be for the year... I think.
*Moved former teacher's stuff to one corner of the room so I could work.
*Organized some of the books
*Sharpened and flagged some pencils for my kiddos for their desks on the first day of school.
*Sketched and cut out a bulletin board character

It really seems like I should have been more productive but my co-worker Ms. S has assured me that is plenty for all that time I've spent, HA!

Pictures will be coming soon......

New Classroom

A few weeks ago I got a glimpse at my new classroom. I am very excited to get in there and really transform it and make it my own. I have very large walls and I don't think I am going to paper/fabric cover them.... we'll see how it goes.

Here's what my new room look like (along with some items from the teacher moving out).
Here is my front door. I am loving the cork board shadow box and can't wait to dress it up!

Excited to finally have a classroom with a smart board. Any tips, tricks, websites etc. that would help me out, please share.

Not a fan of the brown board... I will be covering that!

Thinking of putting some curtains on those windows.

Built in Book cases, backpack hooks line, and a cabinet line the back wall.

Excited to see how my room will come together.

3rd grade

I have neglected this blog since I started it due to the fact that I was subbing and then working as an E.A. with intervention at a school. I love my school district and like other in demand school districts it can be very hard to get in and get that teaching job we all desire.

Well after making a name for myself working as a sub and an E.A. I was called this summer for an interview for 3rd grade. I don't know how many of you are like me, but I LOVE interviews though I've only interviewed 2 times in my life. Just getting that chance to talk about what I love to do is the BEST and I think it shown through in my interview, because I was offered the job 2 days later.

I have never taught 3rd grade, but my mom is starting her 43rd year of teaching this year, and most of that time has been teaching 3rd grade. I've been very involved in her classroom over the years, so that sets my mind at ease a bit.

GET READY....

Join me on my journey  through third grade. I am going to do my best to really get involved with this blog, and share my ideas and lessons, as well as goodies from others that I have used as well as my my "ah-ha moments" and my "what was I thinking" moments as well!
